Berkhamsted Garden.

We worked hard with our client to redesign this whole garden. Before we arrived it was bland, had uneven turf and rotting retaining walls. It was just a patch of turf with a small paved area that had no flow or function.

To start the project we undertook a large amount of ground works, digging out for a swim spa and a rock garden with stream, as well as rearranging levels in the garden to create a more useable space and digging out for a new bin store area.

We built a number of retaining walls, one curved in brickwork to match the house, an area in block work to house the swim spa and replaced previous rotten timber with new bigger sleeper walls alongside the house and in the new bin store area.

We constructed a bespoke modern garden building 3.6m x 4.2m clad both internally and externally in larch, large glazed panels and aluminium bifold doors make up the front and side elevation, we also included two glazed roof lights into the roof structure.

We increased the paving area to a total of 160sqm, removing the existing concrete slabs and replacing them with Indian sandstone paving across the existing patio and then extending to the new raised seating area which are connected by introducing new steps outside the main garden door. This new area also includes a new brick built BBQ and outdoor cooking area.

The end result is a beautiful, usable family garden which flows nicely and works with every season.
